Asthma Australia has launched She Needs to Breathe, the first national campaign to shine a light on the link between female hormones and asthma.

For too long, the way hormonal changes across a woman's life affect asthma has been under-recognised and under-discussed.

Hormonal fluctuations across puberty, pregnancy, perimenopause and menopause can trigger or worsen asthma symptoms, yet many women don't know this connection exists, and many health professionals aren't asking about it.

The She Needs to Breathe aims to change that. The campaign raises awareness among women living with asthma and the health professionals who support them, including those working in pharmacy, who are often the first point of contact when symptoms flare.

The campaign is supported by Assistant Minister for Health and Aged Care, the Hon Rebecca White MP, and Asthma Australia ambassador and former Diamonds captain, Liz Ellis AO.
