Held as part of International Pain Awareness Month, this year’s campaign puts community pharmacy at its heart, with the theme My Pain is More Than a Number.
People living with chronic pain consistently tell Painaustralia how much they value and trust their community pharmacists.
But they also tell us that pain can be difficult to talk about. Some worry they won’t be understood, while others simply don’t know how to start the conversation.
That’s why a simple question from a trusted pharmacist can make a real difference.
Taking part
Painaustralia has developed free resources to help pharmacy teams get involved, including a new consumer-informed Community Pharmacy Guide, A4 posters and A5 counter cards.
The guide shares lived-experience insights, practical conversation starters and information to help pharmacists support meaningful conversations about chronic pain.
What you can do:
- Download the Wear Red for Pain pharmacy resources here https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1yNXenbx5kR2gceqe_sqf0BZifYPLuNc4?usp=sharing
- Visit the Painaustralia Wear Red for Pain webpage at https://www.painaustralia.org.au/wearredforpain to access the Community Pharmacy Guide, posters, counter cards and other campaign materials. Choose the resources that work best for your pharmacy and help us spread the message this September.
Getting involved is easy: wear red, display one or more campaign posters or counter cards, and help start conversations with consumers about chronic pain.
If you’d like, you can also register your pharmacy and share a photo of your team wearing red or your in-pharmacy display.
Pharmacies that upload a photo will go into the draw to win one of two $250 gift cards for their pharmacy team.
Registration isn’t required to take part – we’d simply love to see and share how pharmacies across Australia are getting behind Wear Red for Pain.
