The national sessions are designed to help pharmacy teams understand how the updated framework will operate in practice — including how QSPP will be implemented in-store and how pharmacies will be expected to demonstrate quality and safety under the new model.
Bec Rogers, Chief Pharmacist at National Pharmacies, attended the Adelaide event and said the sector should view the change as more than an administrative update.
“This isn’t just a program update. It’s a shift in how we define quality in community pharmacy,” she said.
Bec pointed to emerging themes from the roadshow, including the move from “documentation to demonstration,” reflecting QSPP’s stronger emphasis on evidencing patient outcomes.
She said the shift aligns with the profession’s evolution.
“Quality isn’t static. And neither is pharmacy,” she said.
Bec said expectations are changing across patients, the health system and the profession itself.
She said QSPP recognises the shift through a heightened focus on patient safety and a clearer acknowledgement of contemporary pharmacy operations.
Roadshow events will continue throughout May in metropolitan and regional locations, giving pharmacy owners and teams the chance to ask questions, seek clarity and build confidence ahead of the October transition.
