Andrew has led the Guild through a period of steady progress. Members describe him as calm, collaborative and focused on practical wins for community pharmacy. During his time in the role, the Guild strengthened its relationships across the health sector and delivered several pieces of work that set pharmacies up for the next chapter.
One of his standout achievements was the closer relationship between the Pharmacy Guild of New Zealand and the Pharmacy Guild of Australia. That work led to the first trans‑Tasman memorandum of understanding between the organisations — a major step forward for both sides.
Members first
Pharmacy Guild of New Zealand President Kesh Naidoo-Rauf said Andrew’s steady approach helped the Guild stay focused through a changing health environment.
“Andrew always put members first. He listened, he built trust, and he made sure the Guild had a clear voice at the table,” Kesh said.
“We thank him for his service and wish him well in his retirement.”
Australia acknowledges Andrew’s impact
Pharmacy Guild of Australia Executive Director Gerard Benedet said Andrew’s leadership helped create a new era of cooperation.
“Andrew backed the idea that we could do more together than apart. The Memorandum of Understanding, gave us a shared platform for future work, and that came from his commitment to collaboration,” Gerard said.
“We’re grateful for his partnership, and we wish him every success.”
The Pharmacy Guild of New Zealand says recruitment for Andrew’s successor will begin shortly.
