OzHarvest is Australia’s leading food rescue organisation, saving surplus food from ending up in landfill and redistributing it to charities supporting people experiencing food insecurity.
Making its Canberra debut, the popular CEO CookOff challenges business leaders to swap the boardroom for the kitchen.
The event saw local leaders, including Mr Benedet, team up with award-winning chefs such as Mindy Woods from Byron Bay, NSW, and AK Ramakrishna from Canberra’s AK’s Diner to prepare a gourmet feast for guests from charities supported by OzHarvest.
The evening raised AUD30,000 in donations to help feed people in need.
“Raising money for such an amazing cause and being able to take part in this evening was an absolute honour,” Mr Benedet said.

“OzHarvest does fantastic work rescuing surplus food from businesses and delivering it to 1,500 charities that help people in need.”
Earlier this year, OzHarvest joined a coalition of more than 20 health and community organisations which successfully campaigned for the reduction in the maximum cost of Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme prescription medicine to AUD25.
“This reduction will help 20 million Australians without a concession card save a combined AUD689 million in the next four years,” Mr Benedet said.
“It was a fantastic evening, and I’d like to thank everyone who supported me as well, as the brilliant charities and team at OzHarvest.”
