The Pharmacy Guild of Australia (PGA) has announced the successful acquisition of the entity Member Benefits Australia (MBA) Pty Ltd from pharmacy software start-up StrongRoom AI.

The strategic acquisition strengthens PGA's commitment to delivering high-value services to its members, enhancing access to exclusive discounts, financial services, and professional development benefits through a more integrated offering.

MBA is a well-regarded platform known for providing tailored member benefits programs across a range of sectors.

MBA aligns perfectly with our mission to support community pharmacies with innovative, cost-saving, and value-enhancing services.

Under the new management, MBA will expand its offerings to better serve pharmacy owners and staff nationwide.

“This acquisition is about reinvesting in our members and offering existing customers and clients even greater benefits,” PGA's Executive Director Gerard Benedet said.

“MBA aligns perfectly with our mission to support community pharmacies with innovative, cost-saving, and value-enhancing services.

"All existing MBA staff, customer and supplier partnerships are ongoing, and we look forward to growing the service offering."

The acquisition will also enable new opportunities for collaboration and innovation across member offerings, industries and suppliers.

MBA will continue as a stand-alone business focussed on serving its clients and customers.

“Member Benefits Australia offers strong discounts, incentives and rewards to its members," MBA's Interim CEO Sam Irvine  said.

"I’m delighted to be leading this talented team as we unlock the potential of this strong multichannel platform.

"My focus will be on building on the strong use and growing database of users, delivering more partnerships and deepening relationships with our existing clients.”

Strongroom AI Director Joe Zhou said since acquiring the pharmacy software start-up, there had been a re-focus on the organisation's mission to tackle the global issue of substance abuse and addiction which is continuing to cause deaths from overdoses worldwide.

"This sale ensures we can renew that focus on delivering life-changing services," Mr Zhou said.

“We thank [PGA] for a smooth transaction and are confident that Member Benefits Australia has found its strongest home within an organisation that has consistently championed its members for nearly a century.

"We are excited to continue supporting and collaborating [PGA] initiatives and look forward to future opportunities to work together in advancing our shared mission of harm minimisation, substance abuse prevention, and addiction recovery.”
